The Amazing Power Of Consistency: Discover The Right Method

There exists a power that each one of us makes use of, either knowingly or unknowingly, in our lives. To put it simply, it is the ‘Power of Consistency’. We all have been using this power either knowingly or unknowingly (or to our advantage or disadvantage). 

I am going to explain different aspects and a correct (and easy) approach to utilize the consistency power that I have found very beneficial. 

 The Power Of Consistency: Basic Definition

In simple terms, the power of consistency means the power of ‘Repeated Actions’. The repeated actions are sometimes also defined as ‘Habits’. 

By doing things repeatedly, they become part of our lives and acquire a certain power over time. It is because repeated actions (or habits) generate momentum and this momentum develops over time to cause a big change in our lives. 

Therefore, ‘Time’ is a crucial component of consistency power. At this point, however, it is important to remember that the consistency power can work both ways: to our advantage or disadvantage. 

It is up to us to make sure that it works in our favor. 

Consistency Power: How It Operates In Our Lives? 

Consider the examples stated below:

  •  A man has unhealthy eating habits. He eats nonsense every day: pizza, fast food, cookies, etc. But he remains strong & healthy. However, over time, the consistency power will apply to his eating habits and he will become obese. Several bodily disorders will surely happen.
  • A woman seeks to learn Sanskrit language. She purchases books, courses, reading materials, and joins classes: all related to Sanskrit. She makes sure to learn Sanskrit every day, even if it is very little. She doesn’t mind her slow progress and keeps moving forward. Eventually, she will gain an excellent command over Sanskrit: all her efforts will compound to her advantage.
  • A young professional wants to update knowledge related to his field. He adopts a structured routine every day, making sure to devote time (even if it is little) to learn more about his field. He studies books, visits specific websites, reads journals, etc. Over time, he will gain more knowledge about his field than any of his colleagues. 

These examples illustrate the impact of consistent action every day over the long course of time. You can analyze your daily actions to understand this power in a better sense. In fact, this power is already operating in your life. 

  What Is The Secret Behind Consistency Power?

Consistency power works because of the following points:

  • Small steps towards larger ( and important) goals are much easier to take every day.
  • Daily routines can be adjusted to include strategic habits to achieve our goal. 
  • When we take consistent action over a long stretch of time, gains accumulate and eventually create a big difference in our lives. 

Harnessing The Consistency Power: The Best Method 

The following step-by-step process can be adopted to harness the consistency power to achieve any goal in your life:

Step 1: Selecting a big goal and breaking it down into small chunks 

Let’s say you want to read a 500 page book. You cannot read & understand the whole book in a day. You have to make a vow that you WILL read 1 page of this book everyday. This is a small step that you can take everyday. 

Consider another example. You want to build an awesome body through daily exercise and good nutrition. You do not have to start with 50 pushups; just make sure that you start with 1 pushup and continue the practice everyday.

Step 2: Taking the small step everyday with patience & determination 

In this step, you have to include the small step into your daily routine and you must carry out the small step towards your big goal with willpower & determination. 

An example: Every morning before exercise or before the evening tea, you can schedule time to read 1 page of the book. The key is to remain motivated and have faith that you will reach your goal. 

You have to analyze your daily routine and make necessary adjustments to include the small steps that you intend to take every day. You don’t have to include any drastic changes in your life; just modify your daily routine to include the small steps.

Step 3: Letting the gains accumulate overtime and reap enormous dividends

By carrying the small steps everyday, you will soon find that you are inching closer to your big goal. The gains will accumulate overtime and you will eventually succeed.

For example: In a month, you will read 30 pages and you will gain much wisdom. You will automatically get more motivated & you will start reading more than 1 page everyday. Eventually, you will finish the book much earlier than expected. 

The key is to remain motivated & have faith in the small steps that you are taking everyday. 

Some Subtle Points About Consistency Power 

It is important to understand following aspects about consistency power:

Point 1: It applies to EVERYTHING in our lives

Consistency power operates for everything in our lives. You can name anything: knowledge, career, health, finances, relationships, social interactions, influence, power, etc.

It applies to even minor things such as dust on your table. If you don’t keep your table clean, the dust will accumulate and eventually insects will come and spider webs will be formed. Thereafter, it will be much harder to clean the table. 

Point 2: It works ALL THE TIME 

The power of consistency is at work even when we are unaware of it. If you do not take care of your daily habits, the consistency power will work in a negative fashion and you will accumulate losses. 

The trick is to remain aware that this power is at work all the time. Hence, we must be mindful of our daily actions so that we can set this power to the right direction.

Point 3: The gains (or losses) influence EVERY ASPECT of your life 

If you have improved one aspect of your life through consistency power, you will reap advantages in several aspects of your life.

 For example: Let’s say you have applied consistency power to your daily exercise and bodybuilding routine. Overtime, you will build a strong & healthy body. This will cause you to feel more confident, more assertive in your daily life. You will improve your social interactions and you can work harder at your job (or business). 

The benefits gained through consistent exercise will influence every other aspect of your life. Similarly, if you accumulated knowledge through reading many books, you can apply this knowledge to various areas of your life and gain further advantages.

On the other hand, if you have allowed consistency power to operate in a negative sense, the losses will not remain confined to one aspect of your life. The losses will accumulate and you will have to confront disadvantages across various areas of your life.

The power of consistency is very simple: daily actions repeated overtime cause big differences in life. We all have been using it in our lives. I can assure you that if you implement all the information provided above in a true sense, you will gain great advantages.
